Inhaling helium can cause dizziness, nausea, vomiting loss of consciousness and death.
Inhaling helium is dangerous and can result in asphyxiation (suffocation).
Gas cylinders contain very high pressure - under no circumstances inhale helium from a cylinder/inflator as this can result in asphyxiation (suffocation) and in some cases death.
Cylinders should be stored upright, secured firmly to prevent toppling and only used by competent adults.
Always keep the cylinder in a well-ventilated area. Do not store in damp areas. Fire hazards and sources of heat should be avoided.
We recommend that all cylinders are moved using a suitable cylinder trolley.
We advise never to leave a cylinder of helium unattended, when not in use should be turned off and stored safely.
Do not release helium gas without an inflator fitted first.
Adults should inflate balloons for children under the age of 8 years.
Children under the age of 8 years with balloons should be supervised at all times.
Never put a balloon or piece of balloon in or near your mouth, as it is possible to choke or be suffocated by an un-inflated balloon or piece of burst balloon.
When handled responsibly balloons pose little threat to health, wildlife or environment.
Never release balloons with a ribbon - never release foil balloons outside.
In the event of a fire, vacate the area and call the Fire Brigade informing them that the cylinder of Balloon Gas is there.
You must always remove the filling kit if moving the cylinder any distance or ceasing to use it. Remember to turn off the cylinder valve and release pressure in the filling kit before removing it.
